SOLAR FOR HOMES

EARN MONEY BY INSTALLING SOLAR PANELS ONTO YOUR HOME

Bright Green Energy is a Government approved, microgeneration (MCS) accredited solar PV installer. With bags of experience we are able to provide a full and complete, design, and installation of a solar PV system for your home.

As experienced solar pv installers, you can rest assured that our work is carried out to a very high standard. All our quotations are fully inclusive with no hidden or additional costs. The price quoted is the price you will pay.  All our solar pv installations are eligible to receive the new Feed-in-Tariff (FIT).

Make money producing electricity and educe your electricity bill at the same time. It's too good to be true!

NEWS! NEWS ! - FEED IN TARIFFS (FIT) NOW AVAILABLE.

The FIT is the most radical change to the UK electricity supply system for many years.  The UK Government has introduced the FIT to motivate homeowners, schools and industry to generate their own electricity and get paid for doing so.  The FIT started in April 2010 and is index linked for the next 25 years.

Under the FIT scheme, you will be paid for every unit (KWH) of electricity you generate, even if you use it all yourself!  In addition, every unit of electricity you generate and use is a unit you do not need to buy from the grid. Any unused generated electricity is sent to the grid, and you are paid an additional bonus for it.

The price you are paid per unit when you join the scheme is guaranteed for 25 years for PV systems, and 20 years for Wind systems. Be aware though, that the tariff price will drop by a percentage every year, so the earlier you join the scheme the higher your guaranteed unit price will be.

Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) re being introduced on 1st April 2010. This new scheme requires electricity suppliers to pay householders and communities who generate their own electricity from renewable or low carbon sources such as solar electricity (PV) panels or wind turbines

How do Feed In Tariffs work?

If you are eligible to receive the FIT then you will benefit in 3 ways:

1. Generation tariff – a set rate paid by your electricity supplier for each unit (or kWh) of electricity you generate. This rate will change each year for new entrants to the scheme (except for the first 2 years), but once you join you will continue on the same tariff for 20 years, or 25 years in the case of solar electricity (PV).

2. Export tariff - you will receive a further 3p/kWh from your electricity supplier for each unit you export back to the electricity grid, that is when it isn’t used by you.. This EXPORT rate is the same for all micro-generation technologies.

3. Make savings on your electricity bill – you will be making savings on your electricity bills because you will be consuming the electricity you produce so reducing the amount of electricity you buy from your provider. The amount you save will vary depending how much of the electricity you use. The more energy efficient you are the more you can export back to the grid. It makes sense!

Tariff levels for technologies installed between 15th July 2009 and 31st March 2012

Technology Installed System Tariff level

(p/kWh)

Tariff

lifetime (years)

Solar electricity (PV) ≤4 kW (retro fit) 41.3 25
Solar electricity (PV) ≤4 kW (new build) 36.1 25
Wind ≤1.5 kW 34.5 20
Wind >1.5 - 15 kW 26.7 20
Micro CHP ≤2kW 10.0 10
Hydroelectricity ≤15 kW 19.9 20

Tariff levels vary depending on the scale of the installation. If you're looking for information on commercial installations, please call us.

The tariff levels shown in the table above apply to installations completed from 15th July 2009 to 31st March 2012 for the lifetime of the tariff. After this date, the rates decrease each year for new entrants into the scheme.

All generation and export tariffs will be linked to the Retail Price Index (RPI) which ensures that each year they follow the rate of inflation

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON FEED IN TARIFFS AND PAYMENTS

For all solar pv systems please note the following:

For systems installed between 15th July 2009 and 1st April 2010

• You can contact OFGEM to apply for Renewables Obligation accreditation by 31st March 2010 and transfer over to FITs on 1st April. You will get the full FIT payment.
• Or, you can wait until 1st April and apply under the FIT scheme directly – see below.

For systems installed between 15th July 2009 and 1st April 2010, applying for FITs after April 1st 2010

• If the system is not MCS approved, you need to contact Ofgem after 1st April to go through ROO-FIT accreditation process.
• If system is MCS approved and installed you must contact FIT licensee for registration (energy supplier).

For systems installed after 1st April 2010. MCS certificated product and installer

• You are eligible for full generation tariff and export tariff.
• Contact your energy supplier and send them your MCS certificate to tell them you are eligible to receive FITs.
• If you install after the 2nd year of the scheme your tariff could be reduced, depending on the installation size.

For systems installed after 1st April 2010. Non-MCS certificated product and installer

• Systems that are not MCS certificated will not be eligible to receive the FIT generation tariff or the guaranteed FIT export tariff. There is the possibility of receiving generation and export tariffs outside of the FIT scheme if privately negotiated.
• You will still benefit from lower electricity bills. The saving will depend on how much of the electricity you generate is used.

Our solar installation service starts with an initial inquiry and leads to the final installation.

Our procedure is:

1. Response to an email or telephone inquiry.

2. A telephone call enables us to assess initial suitability

3. We will carry out a free, no obligation survey / initial site assessment. If the installation is very far away we may ask for a fully refundable, contribution towards our travel costs.

4. When visiting your premises we will discuss the various solar pv options available.

5. Following the visit we will produce a formal, written quotation.

6. Upon acceptance of the quote we will conduct a detailed technical survey

7. We will provide full assistance with the government solar grant application

8. Installation and commissioning will be carried out.

9. Handover book containing full and detailed specifications of your solar pv system.

10. Explanation of system and production of full guarantee.

11. Clear up and leave

What do I need to know and what do I do?

How big is a typical solar pv system?

Solar PV systems are modular and a typical residential  system will be between 1-4kWp and in some cases may even be larger. Electricity produced by a solar pv system is usually consumed first, with excess energy produced being sold (exported) back to the electricity grid.

How much roof space is required?

Domestic solar PV systems require a good roof space. Our survey will determine the correct size system for your available roof space.

How does the solar pv system work?

Solar panels or modules are sold in sizes ranging from 10W to 240W.  Solar PV systems for residential installations are between 1-4kW. We supply and install many different types of solar panels to suit your property, after all, it is important the installed solar pv system looks right for your property.

How do I get the new Feed-In-Tariff?

To be eligible to receive the new Feed-In-Tariff (FIT), your solar pv system must be installed by an MCS accredited company. Once the system is installed, your details will be entered onto the new Gemserve licensee database. This will generate an MCS certificate with a unique serial number.  The certificate and serial number is then sent to Clean Energy Cashback so you can obtain the feed-in-tariff.

Will I have to change electrical supplier?

No. Selling energy back to your electricity supplier will be a simple process dictated by the new feed-in-tariff.
